Windwalker`s frosty attentions are guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of a mortal`s neck stand on end, freeze, then break right off.

-Epitaph

Windwalker is a Wendigo and can be encountered in Ghostbreakers. If the game was preordered Windwalker will be given to the Ghost Master at the start of Act 1.

Appearance

Windwalker is a bipedal humanoid creature with brown skin and pale blue eyes. He has elongated arms and his hands are tipped of with claws. His legs resemble canine hind legs, with the feet not touching the ground with the heel. The feet themselves are tipped off with large yellow claws. Windwaler's face is quiet ghoulish. He has pointy ears, short, stubby nose and large mouth with elongated lower lip, exposing his crooked teeth and pink gums.

How To Free

Windwalker can be freed by destroying the Electroplasmic Storage Device. This can be done by getting an electric ghost into the police station's morgue and destroying the generator near the machine itself.

In the base game, Windwalker would only appear in the level if at least one cell was left unoccupied, meaning that at least one ghost from The Unusual Suspects needed to be freed from the level. To ensure Windwalker showing up, it is recommended to free all ghosts from said level as Windwalker would not appaer on revisits, as all 3 cells would be filled by other ghosts.

Trivia

  • Originally Windwalker was a restless spirit in Gone With the Wendigo.
  • Despite having voicelines for being Laid To Rest and Banished Windwalker uses neither one in the base game.
    • His Laid To Rest Line is replaced by a Narrator line instead.
  • Windwalker is a Wendigo, a Native American creature believed to be a human who turned into the creature due to commiting acts of canibalism. Windwalker looks different to actual Wendigos as they look more like a recently deceased corpse with mutilated features.
  • His animations are a reference to Tasmanian Devil, a character from Looney Tunes. This is confirmed by his concept art.
    • In particular, Windwalker originally was supposed to have a spinning animation however it didn't end up being added in.
  • Windwalker used to be the only missable ghost in the game, as he wouldn't reappear on re-visits to Ghostbreakers, Complete Edition has changed it so that he now always appear in the level, even if no ghosts were freed from either The Unusual Suspects or The Calamityville Horror/Poultrygeist.
