Fingers

Fingers always imagined life to be like music, with death as the end of the song. He was pleasantly surprised, therefore, to find that death is in fact a coda.

-Epitaph

Fingers used to be the Mob Bosses favourite pianist, till the Don shot him. He always tries to finish what he starts.

-Beta Epitaph

Fingers is a Phantom encountered in Deadfellas. He is bound to the piano he used to play, located in the lounge on the upper floor of the ship.

Appearance

Fingers is a tall caucasian man, with white skin and blue eyes. He wears a red tailcoat with a wispy pattern on it, a white ruffle blouse under it, and brown trousers with a large white belt. The blouse itself is tinted in rainbow colors and has a fish stuck inside of it. Fingers' feet are stuck in a bucket filled with concrete. The bucket itself is grey, rusty, full of holes, and covered in cement, with long strains of sea weed sticking out of it. Fingers's face has a large, hooked nose, a stubble on his chin and cheeks, and visible wrinkles on his forehead. Fingers' hair is black with signs of greying along the roots. it is styled in a messy, shaggy hair with two floaty bangs on his forehead.

How To Free

Fingers wishes to hear the song he wasn't able to finish before his death. Some mortals in the level can be heard whistling short tunes, but the correct tune is whistled by the ship's cook, Jude Klous. Leading Jude to the lounge will be enough to satisfy Fingers. Unfortunately, the cook doesn't go above the deck of the ship under normal circumstances. Jude can be lured upstairs by using regular methods such as warding powers or Fool's Errand. Scaring the cook to a certain point will also cause him to start wandering the ship at random, which will result in him eventually stepping into the lounge on his own. However, this can be time consuming, as it is completely random. Getting the cook into the lounge by any means will cause him to whistle the tune, and cause Fingers to start a small performance and join your team.

Cut Content

Originaly rather then being bound to his piano, Fingers would have been bound to his own skeleton which would have been seen in a cut underwater section of Deadfellas. It is unknown what his puzzle was intended to be at that point.

Based on a beta version of the game, at one point either before or after Flash Jordan would have been the one bound to the skeleton underwater.

Trivia

  • Fingers's name may be a reference to 1978 crime drama movie called "Fingers".
    • Fingers shares the name with the titular character of the movie Jimmy "Fingers" Angelelli. Both of them are "eccentric" pianists with ties to the mob.
  • Fingers' clothing may be inspired by outfits worn by Liberace in "The Liberace Show" which run between 1952 and 1969.
  • The song Fingers wishes to play before being laid to rest is called "Toccata & Fugue in d minor", a piece by Bach created somewhere around 1708.
  • Fingers was supposed to be located at the bottom of the sea. This idea was scrapped and he was bound to the piano in the lounge.
  • Fingers has two animation files in the game with the unused one containing unique animations compared to the one used.
  • Fingers shows up on the level poster for Deadfellas.
  • Fingers has three known beta models with slight differences
    • In the model seen in "Fingers's Collector's Edition Render", his pants and belt are the same color as his shirt, and the seaweed grows up to his torso.
    • In the model seen in "An Official Render of Fingers And Scarecrow", he has an orange shirt and belt-less pants with the same color as the bucket of concrete he stands in, which also has completely different textures compared to the final version. In addition, his fish seems to have different textures as well, and the seaweed grows way higher as it wraps around his legs, arms, and even the bucket.
    • The model seen in "A Render Of An Even Older Beta Of Fingers" there is a slightly different render from the one above where the bucket is, now golden and textured inside. In addition, his pants now look as they do in the first model described here, but with a darker belt.
  • Fingers, alongside all of Deadfellas restless spirits, has a modifier increasing fear dealt to Don Bartholemew.
