Not every ghost was once of flesh and blood. Hypnos used to be a dream until the dreamer died whilst sleeping.

-Epitaph

This dream spirit has been imprisoned in an hourglass for centuries.

-Epitaph

Hypnos is a Sandman who joins the Ghost Master's team at the start of Act 2.

Appearance

Hypnos is a large, horse-like bipedal creature made out of sand. Their "fur", mane, and tail is golden and has a sand texture on it. Hypnos' body resembles a head and the back of a horse combined together, lacking a torso and front hooves. Hypnos' head has two red eyes, small ears, and a pair of incisor teeth in his mouth. Hypnos has one pair of legs, which end in brown hooves.

Cut Content

Hypnos was supposed to appear as a restless spirit in all Gothic Mansion levels, The Uninvited, Where There's a Will... /The Butler Didn't Do It and Dark Passage. They would be trapped in an hourglass and would require the Ghost Master to break it. They would reappear in the latter two levels if the hourglass was not broken during The Uninvited.

Interestingly enough, if the hourglass was not broken during either Uninvited or Will / Butler, they would prevent Kintu from appearing during Dark Passage.
