Static

From Ghost Master Complete Edition Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Static never chose to be an electrician in life, instead following his aptitudes wherever they would take him. He continues to go with the flow after his death, enjoying un-life as it comes.

-Epitaph

Cable TV, satellite dishes, aerials - he fitted them all and kept them free from interference. But he fell in the chimney after fixing the aerial and now he has become the ghost in the signal.

-Beta Epitaph

Static is a Wraith first encountered in The Calamityville Horror, bound to the antena located on the roof of the house. If not freed during The Calamityville Horror, he will reappear in Poultrygeist in the same location.

If not freed during either one of these missions, Arclight will appear again in Ghostbreakers, trapped in the Electroplasmic Storage Device.

Appearance

Static is a white man with white, bloodshot eyes. He wears blue overalls held up by a grey belt with black buckle and black shoes. The belt has three black pouches attached to it. Static holds a tv antenna with a green handle. He is bald and wears an orange cap. His teeth are crooked and his eyebrows are long and thin.

How To Free

Static can be freed by dislodging his skeleton out of the chimney. There are multiple ways of doing this. The quickest way is using Quake (Stonewall can learn this power) on the rooftop. This will immediately cause the bones to fall all the way down to the piano room. If Quake is unavailable, using a weaker power such as Tremor (Stonewall knows this power and Whirlweird can learn it), Kinesis (Whirlweird) or strong wind (Combination of Gather Wind and Gusts or Typhoon, Aether knows Gather Wind while Weatherwitch knows Gust and can learn Typhoon) will cause the bones to fall down the chimney further down. When this happenes there are two options of freeing the skeleton. The first one is using one of the aforementioned powers in the piano room on the ground floor. The second is causing the room to become cold by using powers such as Ice Breath or Bitter Cold (Ghastly or Whirlweird) which will cause present mortals to light the fireplace. The clog caused by Static's bones will fill the room with smoke at which point the mortals will call the handymen to fix it. The handymen will then dislodge the bones. Alternatively if either Steve or Greg Hutz see the smoke they will free the bones themself instead of calling the handyman. A third solution is possible, however it is highly unlikely to be done in regular gameplay. If the master bedroom on the first floor is made cold while a mortal is present, they will light the fireplace in that room causing the same event to occure as if the fireplace was lit in the piano room. This is difficult to achieve as it requeires teaching Whirlweird Ice Breath and having a child and another mortal present in the room. When the bones are dislodged from the chimney, Static will be laid to rest.

If not freed during The Calamityville Horror, he will reappear in Poultrygeist with the same requirements.

Alternatively, if not freed during either one of these missions, he can be freed in Ghostbreakers by destroying the Electroplasmic Storage Device. (Work in progress)

Trivia

  • Static shares his base model with Arclight.
  • Originaly Static, Maxine Factor and Arclight could have been freed in Ghostbreakers had you missed them in both The Calamityville Horror and Poultrygeist. Complete Edition however restores that.
  • Despite having a band 2 power from the start, Static can learn Fright in that slot according to game files which while originally unusable, can now be swapped to in Complete Edition.
  • According to a developer Static didn't have a concrete origin and just came from the idea of someone on the roof being struck by lightning.
    • Interestingly, despite that being his apparent origin, Static's actualy died from being poisoned, the description however fits Brigit who did die in that way.
    • While Static may not have a direct reference in his origin he could have been indirectly inspired by either Back to the Future or the 1996 BBC adaptation of The Crow Road.
  • Static's beta epitaph references the act of Ghosting, a term used in relation to television in which a replica of the transmitted image, offset in position, is superimposed on top of the main image. It is often caused when a TV signal travels by two different paths to a receiving antenna, with a slight difference in timing.
