A fan of over-the-top cop movie heroes such as McClane and Riggs, Blue was disappointed to find that she died easily when shot with a lethal weapon.

-Epitaph

Shot in the line of duty, she is the epitome of ghostly justice and vengeance.

-Epitaph

Blue Murder is an Apparition who can be encountered for the first time in The Unusual Suspects, bound to her corpse in the morgue of the Hell Street Precinct Station. Alternatively, if not freed during The Unusual Suspects, she can be encountered again in Ghostbreakers as one of the ghosts trapped in the Electroplasmic Storage Device.

Appearance

Blue Murder is a woman with grey skin, grey eyes and short, straight gray hair. She wears a tattered version of the uniform identical to the ones worn by the rest of the Police Force of Gravenville, which consists of a dark blue shirt with a police badge on its chest and yellow accents on the shoulders, black trousers with a gun holster attached to the belt, black shoes and a police hat. Her body is horribly disfigured due to the damage she sustained before her death. Her face is scarred with the jaw and neck missing, exposing the bone. Both parts of her left shoulder and thigh are missing with bones and flesh sticking out. A part of her waist is entirely missing except for the spine and her right forearm, leg and foot are just bones.

How To Free

Blue Murder will become free after she takes revenge on the corrupt cop who set her up. The cop in question is Detective Norman Franz. However, before Franz can be lead to Blue Murder, he needs to be exposed. There are two ways to achieve this. The first way involves leading Franz to the evidence room where he will steal money from a suitcase. The evidence room is guarded by Officer Andrew Haid who won't allow any mortal to enter the evidence room. Scare him away and either use attraction powers to ward Franz to the evidence room or wait until he does it himself. Alternatively, you can use a Sandman to put Norman to sleep and use Uncover Fear or Expose Fears on him. Officer Megan Russo will fall asleep if you destroy the coffee machine in the central office, creating a sleep fetter. Using Sleepwalk, the sandman can travel around the level and will eventually put Franz to sleep. After Franz gets exposed, you can lead him to the morgue where Blue Murder will scare him away and be set free.

Alternatively, if not freed during The Unusual Suspects, she can be freed in Ghostbreakers by destroying the Electroplasmic Storage Device.

Trivia

  • Blue Murder's name means 'to yell in a very loudly or angry way'.
    • Her name could also mean that a cop (Blue) got killed (Murder), making it a literal description of her situation.
  • Blue Murder's design was partially based on Megan Turner, a character from 1989 Crime Thriller, Blue Steel.
  • Blue Murder shares her base model with the female police officers.
  • During the Beta of Ghost Master, Blue Murder was bound to the money suitcase in the evidence room.
    • Despite being moved in the final game, the image of her in the evidence room is still included in the official strategy guide.
  • The official Prima guide of the game used to state that Blue Murder has Frozen Stiff! as her band 8 power instead of Terror Incarnate. It is unknown if this is simply a mistake or if her power was swapped later in development but in reference to the guide she was given the power as a possible swappable option for the tier.
  • Blue Murder was supposed to possess an unused power called "No Way Out". The power prevented mortals from leaving the room the haunter is in.
  • Blue Murder's epitaph references John McClane and Martin Riggs, who are the protagonists of Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.
    • The last line of her epitaph also name drops the latter movie.
  • There are 2 small mistakes in Blue Murder's voicelines:
    • In her Norman Exposed (Discovering Fears) line the subtitles start with a "Hey" but it's not spoken by her
    • In her Norman Exposed (Taking Money) line she mentions that she has a bullet-holed badge, but it's completely fine on her model
  • Blue Murder had a different voice actress during the beta of the game.
  • Blue Murder shares her face texture with Electrospasm.
  • Blue Murder's story might be a reference to Robocop. Both were gunned down by a bunch of thugs ready to kill them and somebody from the Police Force was involved in the ordeal.
