Clatterclaws

From Ghost Master Complete Edition Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Clatterclaws is a haunter much in demand. For some reason many mortals seem unnaturally afraid of living spiders - let alone living dead ones.

-Epitaph

Clatterclaws is a veteran of dozens of outdoor hauntings.

-Beta Epitaph

Clatterclaws is a Horde which joins Ghost Master's team at the start of Act 1.

Appearance

Clatterclaws is a giant spider, which could possibly be inspired by a female barn funnel weaver (Tegenaria domestica). She has brown fur with black spots all over her body. Her cephalothorax has a darker, V shaped pattern on it, two black dots on the front representing her eyes and a pair of pedipalps. She has eight legs, all coming out of her cephalothorax. Her abdomen has a black pattern on it as well as two spinnerets at the bottom. While bound to the mortal world, Clatterclaws sits atop a spider web covering the whole room. She spawns many little spiders while using many of her powers.

Trivia

  • Clatterclaws is way bigger in the intro than in game.
    • She is also visible to mortals despite not having any manifest powers (alongside Cogjammer and Shivers).
  • Clatterclaws is a lot larger than what Barn funnel weavers can achieve.
  • At one point in development, Clatterclaws would have spawned on the floor instead of the ceiling.
    • During that time her icon was also way darker.
    • Based on her cut audio, back then she would have also had Chase, but it is unknown if that was replaced by Legion or if both were an option for her.
  • Despite having a band 4 power from the start, Clatterclaws can learn Twisted Vines in that slot according to game files and the official guide. This power was made available as a swappable option for her in Complete Edition.
  • Clatterclaws is inspired by a 1983 dark fantasy movie Something Wicked This Way Comes.
    • Despite this inspiration, Clatterclaws wasn't planned to appear in the Something Wicked level despite both sharing the inspiration.
