Moonscream

Professional haunters pride themselves on their reserve and impartiality, but Moonscream truly is fair in all things. Admittedly, this is because she hates all things with equal passion - but full marks for effort, all the same.

-Epitaph

Her husband experimented foolishly with a dangerous tome, and in the process she suffered a heart attack at the frightful things she saw. After death, she has become Moonscream, a banshee, wishing to punish mortals for the life so cruelly stolen from her.

-Beta Epitaph

Moonscream is a Banshee who can be first encountered in Summoners Not Included, bound to her grave located in the basement of the cabin, If not freed during Summoners Not Included, she will reappear in The Blair Wisp Project in the same location.

Appearance

Moonscream is a floaing woman with pale blue skin and white eyes. She wears what appears to be a white buttoned up nightgown with frills on the neck and puffy cuffs. Moonscream lacks legs and her fingers look very pointy and thin. Her face resembles a skull, with no nose and lips, exposing her teeth. Moonscream's hair is long and white, floating up and down.

How To Free

Moonscream can be freed by revealing her ghostly form to a mortal. This can be done simply by using one of her manifest powers, either Strange Vision or Spooky Surprise. One should be careful however, as scaring away any of the three students will result in mission failure. Scaring Bruce Elm is heavily discouraged as his willpower is extreamly low and may cause him to wander in and out of the basement at a time where you need to scare away Dr. Krauss who himself is a perfect target for Moonscream as he is required to be scared off anyway (This also would provide extreme satisfaction to Moonscream, as Dr. Krauss was her former husband). After scaring a mortal using a manifest power, Moonscream will be set free and join your team.

If not freed during Summoners Not Included, she will reappear in The Blair Wisp Project. Freeing her in this level is a lot more difficult as the timing required is a lot tighter as if a mortals reach the basement, an unskippable cutscene will play. The best way of freeing her during this level would be to start one of her powers just as a mortal is near the bottom of the stairs or if you're lucky and the mortals get seperated before reaching the basement you have a lot more time to scare a mortal since the cutscene only starts once the last person enters the room.

Trivia

  • In life, Moonscream was a wife of Dr. Krauss. She has a cut line referencing this fact.
  • Moonscream originaly started of as a concept art for Brigit before being turned into a unique ghost.
  • At one point in development she would have carried a book in her hands. She also would have animations related to the book.
    • This could be a reference to Eleanor Twitty, also know as The Gray Lady, a ghost from 1984 sci-fi/comedy, Ghostbusters.
  • Based on the color of the hand and the fact that her body is burried in that level it is very likely that Moonscream's hand shows up on the level poster for Summoners Not Included although she's missing her sleeves in it.
  • Moonscream is the only haunter in the game that plays a unique voice line if pressed on while a specific mortal is in the room with her when she's a restless spirit.
