Vincent Scarlet is the name thet The Painter would have gone by during his apperance as a mortal in The Uninvited. He would have shown up in the level to paint a portrait of Old Man Carter before his death however the portrait would have been considered so awful that he would have killed himself.

In addition, he would have also been the father of Bill Scarlet, a mortal which would appear later on in Where There's a Will... / The Butler Didn't Do It.

• The name Vincent Scarlet is a reference to Frederick Loren, a character played by Vincent Price from a 1959 movie House on Haunted Hill.
  • Despite sharing both a name and painting with them, The Painter is likely not named after Vincent Willem van Gogh although he might have still been influenced by him.
• According to Herbert Lovecraft's bio Vincent would have been friends with him.
• The Scarlet name is a refecence to board game called Clue, specifically a character from it named Miss Scarlet
