- Originally, Grampa was supposed to wield a cane, as can be seen in his concept art, old renders and even in an early trailer.
- Originally the whole Hutz family's surname was Klutz and in addition he didn't use a softened version of the word Grandpa, making his original name Grandpa Klutz.
