Story Role

The role of the Gravenville University members can largly be split into three sections:

The Kappa Lambda Sorority & Alpha Tau Fraternity

The two groups mainly serve as cannon fodder for the Ghost Master, being used by them as a warm up at the start of their campaign of terror during the events of Haunting 101 and Weird Séance. Following that, 4 of the Frat Boys would have made a brief apperance in The Unusual Suspects , as their disorderly behaviour has landed them in the police station's jail.

During their final apperance in Facepacks & Broomsticks, due to the fear that the Ghost Master has inflicted upon them, the groups would stay together at the Kappa Lambda Sorority House and bring on a trio of Witches to protect them, which only served to make them a bigger targert in the eyes of The Haunting Commitee.

Originally however, the story of the Sorority Girls and Frat Boys would have concluded in Calamityville III: Curse Of The Frat People, where they would come to the abandoned Hutz house in order to try getting rid of a "curse" they believe to have gotten on themselves because of all the hauntings going on around them. They would have belived that the key to reliving themselves of the "curse" was to climb to the top of the Hutz's house and the Ghost Master's goal would have been to prevent mortals from doing so in order to keep them in their despair.

The Film Students

In the base game, the 3 film students don't have much of a role or a background story, simply being a group of greedy students off in the woods to film a movie during the events of The Blair Wisp Project, where the Ghost Master tries to use them to feed the Darkling once more before being interrupted by Dr. Krauss and Dr. Brunner's trap. The fate of the students following those events is unknown as none of them appear after the level nor are they visible after Darkling is captured during the summoning.

Originally, the students would have made one more appearance in The Uninvited where they would have tried to capture footage of ghosts in Carter's Mansion, a goal which the Ghost Master would gladly help accomplishing.

• According to the way that the game's text file is structured, there are 9 unknown cut University sudents, specifically:
  • Sorority Girls B, C, and E
  • Frat Boys B, D, G, H, J and M
• While not confirmed, it is possible that Documentarix would have also been a part of the Gravenville University due to her being a Film Student however it is unknown if she would have studdied in Gravenville or some other town.
• In a beta version of the game, the role of the Professor of the Occult that Dr. Krauss fulfills was instead taken by a different unseen mortal
