Wind Strength

Caused by powers in the Wind Power Family, those being Gather Winds (adds +1 over time), Gusts (+2), Tempest (+3) and Typhoon (+5)

Calm

Wind Force Range 0-1

The neutral strength of wind in a level. Doesn't cause any effects.

Breezy

Wind Force Range 2-3

The Wind becomes strong enough to blow out candles.

Windy

Wind Force Range 4-5

The strength of the wind becomes strong enough to blow out fires, make mortals with a fear of Storm Uneasy, deal +1 Glass Damage to objects, and also slow down mortal's speed as they fight against the wind.

In addition, if the wind force is increased in an inside area mortals in the room will constantly gain tiny ammounts of Belief, going up to around light belief levels after a minute.

Gale

Wind Force Range 6-7

The strength of the wind becomes strong enough to deal +1 Structural Damage to objects in the area in addition to the previous effects of blowing out fires, making mortals with a fear of Storm Uneasy, and slowing them down.

In addition, if the wind force is increased in an inside area, mortals in the room will constantly gain tiny amounts of Belief, going up to around medium belief levels after a minute.

Hurricane

Wind Force Range 8+

The highest level of wind strength, causing the wind to becomes strong enough to deal +3 Structural Damage to objects in the area, in addition to the previous effects of blowing out fires, making mortals with a fear of Storm Uneasy, and slowing them down.

In addition, if the wind force is increased in an inside area, mortals in the room will constantly gain small amounts of Belief, going up to around heavy belief levels after a minute.

Temperature

Caused by powers in the Cold and Fire Power Families, specifically Frostbite (-4), Ice Breath (-2), Bitter Cold (-1), Sweat (+1), Roast (+2), and Inferno (+4).

Freezing Cold

Temperature = -4 or less

The coldest possible temperature in the game, causes the environment to be frozen (only a visual effect with the exception of the river in The Blair Wisp Project), and in addition deals +1 Structural damage to objects and causes mortals to become Uneasy when exposed to the cold. Mortals will also get the freeze effect applied to them, which decreases willpower by 5% percent over a minute.

Ice Cold/Icy

Temperature = -3

The temperature in the area falls low enough to cause +1 Structural damage to objects and causes mortals to become Uneasy when exposed to the cold.

Cold

Temperature = -2

The lowest cold related Weather Effect, causes +1 Structural damage to objects in the area.

Temperate

Temperature = -1 or 0

The default temperature level, has no effects.

Warm

Temperature = +1

The lowest heat related Weather Effect, causes +1 Machine Damage to objects.

Very Warm

Temperature = +2 or +3

The temperature in the area becomes high enough to cause +1 Machine Damage to objects and make mortals become Uneasy when first exposed to the heat.

Hot

Temperature = +4 or more

The Highest Possible Temperature level, causes +1 Machine damage, deals small amounts of Fire Horror to mortals with a fear of fire (Coming up to around Light Horror after a minute), and gives each mortal a 0.37% chance of falling unconscious each second while in the area.

Unique

A list of weather conditions which are activated by either specific powers or by combining different ones.

Raining

Using Rain

While it's raining in an area, all objects area dealt +2 Machine damage and fires are put out.

If active outside, all mortals will rush inside.

If active in an inside area, mortals in the room will constantly gain tiny amounts of Belief, going up to around medium belief levels after a minute.

Flooded

Using Flood

The area of effect becomes filled with water, causing +3 Machine damage to all objects.

Storm

Combining Wind Force equal to 3 or 4 and Raining

Starts a storm in the area that, along with the standard effects of both Raining and Breezy/Windy:

  • Causes mortals with a fear of storm to become Uneasy when first exposed to the effect.
  • If mortals with the fear of storm are calm, deals light amounts of Storm Horror to them, coming up to around Light Storm Horror after a minute.

Thunderstorm

Combining Wind Force equal or higher than 5 and Raining

Creates a powerful thunderstorm in the area, which in addition of the standard effects of both Raining and Windy/Gale/Hurricane:

  • Causes mortals to become Uneasy when first exposed to the effect.
  • If a mortal is calm, deals small amounts of Storm Horror to them, coming up to around Medium Storm Horror after a minute. If a mortal has a fear of storm, however, the effect also works when they are rattled.

Causing a thunderstorm will also cause Lightning to strike from the sky onto either certain locations in a level or in a random place, causing unique interactions, +4 Structural Damage, and in addition if a mortal happens to be in the area where the lightning strikes, they will receive the full effects of Surge. The unique location/effects where it can strike are:

  • The Unusual Suspects/Ghostbreakers - Lightning strikes the Radio mast, freeing Electrospasm in the first and turning off the green ward in the latter mission.
  • The Blair Wisp Project - Lightning Strikes a tree next to the chasm before the cabin, causing it to fall over. Once the tree is toppled lightning hits randomly.
  • Spooky Hollow - Lightning first strikes a tree in the middle of the pond (freeing Stormtalon in the process), then the small shack (Destroying it and freeing Black Crow), and once both targets are destroyed it hits randomly.
  • What Lies Over the Cuckoo's Nest? - Lightning strikes the top of the building, causing the cell doors of the insane inmates to open.
  • Class of Spook'em High - Lightning randomly selects between three targets: the fountain, weather vane (both have no effect), or the Ghostbreaker van (turns off the green ward). Alternatively, once the Stay Cold Ice Cream Man is released, he will be targeted instead, causing him to be destroyed when he is struck.

Snow

Combining Temperature of -3 or lower and Raining

The falling rain becomes snowflakes. Mortals will also get the freeze effect applied to them, which decreases willpower by 5% percent over a minute. This Freeze does not stack with freeze from Icy Cold.

Blizzard

Combining Wind Force equal to 3 or 4, Temperature of -3 or lower and Raining

The raging storm becomes a blizzard. Doesn't have any mechanical changes from it's components and is only a visual change.

Trivia

  • The power Distant Thunder uses the Thunder 6 sound effect.
    • Thunderclap, however, uses it's own unique Thunder sound rather then sharing a preexisting one.
  • The Flooded weather effect seems to be a leftover from a cut Lava effect which would have likely combined it with high temperature.
  • It is possible that originally, rather than having Temperate cover both the 0 and -1 temperature, the lower temperature would instead use the cut Nippy Weather Effect.
  • When looking in the order menu, the name of the Ice Cold temperature is wrong as it is instead referred to as Icy.
  • The effects of Cold Temperatures, Snow and Blizzad would have likely also caused special effects to people with the cut fear of Cold.
